Disney Destiny Departs the Netherlands Ahead of Florida Voyage
Last week, Disney officially took delivery of the Disney Destiny, its newest cruise ship. During a ceremony in Eemshaven, Netherlands, the vessel was transferred from Meyer Werft to Disney Cruise Line. Today, the Destiny departed the Dutch port, bound for Funchal, Portugal, before beginning its first transatlantic voyage to Florida. According to Scott Sanders, it’ll make a stop in Port Canaveral before heading to its permanent home at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale.
The Destiny’s crew will take their time sailing from Europe to America. Over the next two weeks, they’ll make final preparations for her first official voyage voyage on November 20. Before that sailing, Disney’s “Heroes and Villains” ship will also embark on a preview cruise or two. Those are reserved for Cast Members (and their families), travel agents, media, and guests.

We’ve covered the Destiny and its heroes-versus-villains theme extensively, and with good reason. With Spider-Man, Dr. Facilier, and Edna Mode on board, this ship is guaranteed to be a hit.
