First Look: Spider-Man Anchors the Disney Destiny Stern
Walt Disney Imagineering revealed the enormous Spider-Man coming to the Disney Destiny’s stern. The Marvel character is a first for Disney Cruise Line. Other ship sterns have featured mostly old-school Disney characters. But Spider-Man is the perfect choice for a ship with a heroes-versus-villains theme.
I also would’ve been happy with Darth Vader or Iron Man.
Or the Hulk! The Hulk would’ve been incredible!
Back to reality. Disney previously shared concept art for the Destiny’s stern. Spider-Man is joined by his Spider-Bots, one of which is painting the ship’s filigree. Disney’s signature golden swirls have been replaced by more geometric (i.e., spiderweb) patterns. It’s a cool departure.
Imagineer Jay Abruzzese takes us behind the scenes on the project and reveals that Spider-Man would need size 47 shoes (if he wore shoes).
The Disney Destiny sets sail on its maiden voyage on November 20, 2025.
