Universal Kids Resort Video Previews TrollsFest, Shrek’s Swamp, and Puss in Boots Del Mar

Universal Kids Resort Video Previews TrollsFest, Shrek’s Swamp, and Puss in Boots Del Mar

Universal Creative just gave us a closer look at three more lands coming to Universal Kids Resort. The new preview video dives into TrollsFest, Shrek’s Swamp, and Puss in Boots Del Mar with animated fly-throughs of the attractions and play areas. It also confirms one very important detail: the Shrekzel is coming.

DreamWorks’ TrollsFest

First up is TrollsFest. Guests entering the land will be greeted by a photo spot featuring a vibrant backdrop and two-dimensional figures of Poppy and Branch. There will be lines.

Universal also revealed the bright facade for the Sparkle Shine Glitter Glow “Troll-ify Me!” experience, where kids can get styled to look like their favorite Trolls.

We’re also treated to animations of the land’s two attractions. First is Rhonda’s TrollsFest Express, a kid-friendly starter coaster. Then there’s Hair in the Clouds, a spinning ride that lifts riders high enough for some great views of the park.

Finally, we get our first look at Mr. Dinkles’ Market, where you can pick up “concert-ready t-shirts, souvenirs, and more.” Today I learned that Mr. Dinkles is a worm.

DreamWorks’ Shrek’s Swamp

As I said, the Shrekzel will be available at Universal Kids Resort.

The Shrek-shaped soft pretzel comes with green cheese. The color comes from spinach powder, which technically makes it a vegetable. Parents will want to keep that fact to themselves.

According to Universal Creative, Shrek built this land for his triplets. That’s not suprising, seeing as his kids are featured on the license plates of the vehicles coming to Shrek & Fiona’s Happily Ogre After. We’re treated to an animation of that attraction, which takes guests through the couple’s love story.

The land also features two free-play areas: one wet and one dry. Shrek’s Swamp Splash & Smash was installed months ago, while Shrek’s Swamp Rompin’ Stomp was just installed this week. Shade structures will cover the latter’s makeshift wooden castle structures, which look like something Shrek and Donkey might have thrown together themselves.

DreamWorks’ Puss in Boots Del Mar

The new video finally gives us a name for the building housing Mama Luna’s Adopt a Kitty Day. It’s called the Puss in Boots Theater and is one of the most striking structures in the park. Its Spanish Mission–inspired architecture makes it a standout feature along Del Mar’s skyline.

Riders on Swings Over Del Mar will also get dizzying views of the theater and the land’s central fountain. This is the first time we’re seeing that water feature up close, though we actually spotted the fountain’s equipment pack sitting on site months ago.

Two Lands to Go

With this video, Universal has now previewed five of Universal Kids Resort’s seven lands. They highlighted the park’s Jurassic World and SpongeBob SquarePants lands last month.

That leaves Illumination’s Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club and Gabby’s Dollhouse’s Isle of Curiosity still to come. We’re also expecting a deeper look at the resort’s on-site hotel in a future preview.

We’re also still waiting for Universal to share details on tickets and hotel reservations. With a likely late May or early June opening window, families planning summer vacations are starting to lock in their travel plans. The sooner Universal releases that information, the easier it will be for guests to decide whether a trip to Frisco makes the cut this summer.
