Universal Kids Resort Targeting Late May or Early June 2026 Opening

Universal Kids Resort may be just a few months away from opening its gates. A source familiar with the project says Universal is currently targeting a late May to early June opening window for the new Frisco theme park.

The company hasn’t confirmed an official date yet, but the timeline lines up with the resort’s recent progress. Hiring has accelerated in recent weeks, ride testing has begun on several attractions, and construction across the park appears to be entering its final stretch.

It also closely matches earlier permitting timelines. In 2024, filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation listed May 15, 2026, as the expected completion date for construction.

School’s out, let’s go to Universal

Universal would almost certainly prefer a May debut over June. The last day of school for most Dallas/Fort Worth districts, including Frisco ISD, is May 22. Memorial Day is the following Monday. Opening by that holiday weekend would be perfect timing.

That timeline also means Universal will likely need to share ticket prices, hotel rates, and booking details soon. Families are already planning their summer vacations. If guests don’t know what a Universal Kids Resort trip will cost, many will end up committing their travel budgets elsewhere. Opening just before the busy summer season would be perfect timing, but only if visitors have enough time to plan for it.

A late May/early June opening would likely put preview opportunities a month earlier. As a brand-new theme park, Universal Kids Resort will need time to run through those early operations with guests in the park and the hotel.

But the preview period may not need to be as extensive as the one leading up to Epic Universe’s opening last year. Frisco’s rides, while beautifully themed, rely on proven, off-the-shelf technology. They won’t require the in-depth technical rehearsals that Battle at the Ministry or Monsters Unchained received.

If the timeline holds, thousands of Frisco-area kids could be finishing their last day of school and heading straight to a brand-new theme park just down the road.
