DreamWorks Animation Files Trademark for “Mama Luna’s Adopt a Kitty Day!”

A while back, DreamWorks Animation filed a trademark for a possible Puss in Boots-themed experience at Universal Kids Resort. Mama Luna’s Adopt a Kitty Day! refers to a character in Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. Mama Luna, an eccentric cat lady, took in Puss after his brush with death. In the film, Puss (now named Pickles) has to learn to use the litter box and enjoy dry cat food.

Yesterday, Universal revealed the land’s official name – Puss in Boots Del Mar – along with new details about what guests can look forward to in this seaside village. The story unfolds during the town’s cat adoption day:

“You’re just in time for Del Mar’s kitty adoption day! Join DreamWorks’ Puss in Boots, Mama Luna and Perrito for the feline festivities—including meet and greets, attractions like Swings Over Del Mar and Mama Luna’s Puppet Show, classic carnival games, delicious food and a relaxing sensory garden. You won’t want to miss this pawty.”

Universal Studios Florida already features a Mama Luna-branded experience called Mama Luna Feline Fiesta, where guests can “say hello to Puss in Boots and play with hundreds of cats on a digital screen using bells, buttons, and maracas.” We’re unsure if Mama Luna’s Adopt a Kitty Day is a similar character experience or if the name will simply be used for branding around the land.
