Swings Over Del Mar Themed Elements Installed at Universal Kids Resort

Since going vertical at Universal Kids Resort last June, Swings Over Del Mar has mostly blended into the background. The Zamperla Flying Carousel was one of the first attractions installed, exciting at the time, but it’s sat dormant ever since. That changed this week as crews began installing the ride’s canopy and Puss in Boots–themed panels.

Until now, most of the park’s visual punch has come from the hotel (obviously) and the blue-centric Bikini Bottom and Jurassic World Adventure Camp. TrollsFest brings its pink coaster and Hair in the Clouds spinner, but those attractions simply don’t have the surface area to deliver a full skyline moment.

Swings Over Del Mar does. The orange-and-red canopy instantly drew my eye from across the park, and it only got better up close. Many of the ivory-wrapped pieces that sat in the laydown yard for the past year are now in place, finally showing off their seafoam green and light blue accents.

Puss in Boots characters ring the canopy’s edge, with more artwork slated for the ride’s center structure. Crew are moving quickly, so perhaps that’s installation already happened. Perhaps I’ll go out there this evening to check.

I’ve had a hunch that Puss in Boots Del Mar will be the standout of Universal Kids Resort. Every land will have its moments, but this Spanish Mission–inspired seaside village already feels a little different. The colorful swings, Mama Luna’s terra cotta and blue accents, and the corals and aquas woven throughout bring laid-back coastal vibes.

If this is only the starting point, the finished land could become one of the most photogenic spots in Universal Kids Resort. And isn’t that why we all go to theme parks?
