SpongeBob SquarePants Revealed at Universal Kids Resort as Jellyfish Fields Theming Emerges
SpongeBob SquarePants and his bed of jellyfish have finally been revealed at Universal Kids Resort.
The Jellyfish Fields Jamboree pieces have been on site for a while, tucked safely inside two wooden crates. Today, for the first time, they were out in the open and visible through my favorite chain link fence.
Update (February 26, 2026): SpongeBob has been installed in Bikini Bottom. We’ve updated this story with two new photos.

Our original story follows.

Last week, crews cleared out the original laydown yard that had housed ride parts and vehicles for over a year. I spent countless evenings outside that fence, taking hundreds of photos of Shrek mobiles, Cretaceous Coaster track, and everything else staged there. It was convenient. And close.
Now the staging area has moved to the resort’s main parking lot, which means I have to work a little harder. The pieces are much farther away, and the heat shimmer rising off the concrete does me no favors. I took more bad photos than good today, but I found a few solid shots on the card.

That’s good news, because I probably won’t get a second chance. SpongeBob and his jellyfish swarm won’t stay exposed for long. I’d expect crews to install them atop Jellyfish Fields Jamboree in Bikini Bottom sooner rather than later. The ride’s central column theming should go with them. That column is visible in these photos as well, complete with SpongeBob’s iconic flowers and several pink jellyfish.
Before the old laydown yard closed up shop, Aahs n Oohs correctly identified the contents of those wooden crates, even predicting that SpongeBob would be lying on his back. As usual, he nailed it.
The rest of the attraction has been visible off-and-on for over a year. The Zamperla Aero Top Jet 12’s hub, arms, and ride vehicles first arrived in February 2025 and were installed months ago. Since then, we’ve been waiting for these themed elements to bring the spinner to life.

These pictures also show themed elements for the Bobbing Barrels, a dual flat spinner that lets guests spray each other with water. The two yellow supports will eventually hold Patrick Star and Sandy Cheeks, the two figures wrapped in white plastic.

As exciting as the last year of ride reveals has been, today cranks the hype to 11. We love flower clouds and onion carriage hood ornaments, sure. But SpongeBob isn’t background theming. He’s Universal Kids Resort’s headliner. At least, he is for me.
