Icarus Exhibits Tied to Four Monstropolis Permits at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Last Friday, Walt Disney Imagineering filed four Notices of Commencement tied to Monsters, Inc. work at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The permits have Icarus Exhibits installing set elements at the following Monstropolis locations:
- Harryhausen’s (formerly Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano)
- A rethemed quick-service restaurant (formerly PizzeRizzo)
- The Glob Theater (former home of Muppet*Vision 3D)
- A Monstropolis city park (formerly Stage 1 Company Store)
Given the timing of these filings, the scope of work may be similar across all four NOCs. Icarus is likely adding to the Monstropolis city vibe with several outdoor installations.
The company’s work is already familiar to Disney World visitors, from Tiana’s water tower in Magic Kingdom to the oversized Woody and Buzz Lightyear figures in Toy Story Land. They’re currently contributing to The Magic of Disney Animation at Hollywood Studios and EPCOT’s Soarin’, both set to debut later this summer.
