Permits Filed for Monstropolis Restaurants at Hollywood Studios

Walt Disney Imagineering has filed two Notice of Commencement permits for work within the upcoming Monstropolis area at Hollywood Studios. Both filings relate to restaurant transformations. Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano is set to become Harryhausen’s, while the future of PizzeRizzo remains unknown.

Harryhausen’s, the Japanese restaurant featured in Pixar’s Monsters, Inc., clearly appears in concept art for Monstropolis. As for PizzeRizzo, Disney hasn’t revealed its plans. But it would make sense to keep a quick-service pizza option in that location.

PCL Construction Services will handle the work. The company has been busy in the former Muppets Courtyard, having already demolished the Stage 1 Company Store and appearing on permits for the Muppet Theater. The former home to Muppet*Vision 3D is being transformed into The Glob Theater.

Disney is moving quickly with the Muppets Courtyard transformation. With major construction already visible and a massive coaster going in just beyond Hollywood Studios’ original footprint, Monstropolis is clearly taking shape.
