Imagineering Permit Tasks Icarus Exhibits with Soarin' Work

Walt Disney Imagineering has filed a permit for work at 1994 Avenue of the Stars, the address for Soarin’. Icarus Exhibits, a familiar name to Disney World permit watchers, is listed for the installation of set elements inside The Land Pavilion attraction. The company’s past work includes Buzz and Woody in Toy Story Land, Tiana’s water tower, and the Sienar-Chall Utilipede Transport in Galaxy’s Edge.

So what’s changing? As usual, the Notice of Commencement doesn’t say much. What we do know is that Soarin’ is getting a refresh for America’s 250th birthday. Soarin’ Around the World will have its final day at EPCOT on May 13, 2026, with Imagineers beginning the transition to Soarin’ Across America the following day.

The updated film will feature American landscapes and cityscapes, which requires a relatively straightforward swap. But the inclusion of Icarus for set element installation adds a little intrigue. The Soarin’ queue typically doesn’t need much updating when the film changes, and with the attraction only scheduled to be down for 12 days, we’re not expecting major changes.

Still, this is enough to keep us permit watchers paying attention.

Soarin’ Across America debuts May 26, 2026.
