Imagineering Files Permit for Monstropolis City Park at Hollywood Studios
Walt Disney Imagineering has filed a Notice of Commencement for work at 361 Cypress Dr., the former home of the Stage 1 Company Store in Muppets Courtyard. That address will be home to a city park once the Monstropolis retheme is done.
Elite A/V is listed for the always-vague “electrical work.” The company specializes in audio-visual infrastructure and has been popping up all over Hollywood Studios lately, including at The Magic of Disney Animation and inside Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, soon starring The Muppets.
As for what they’re actually installing? Your guess is as good as ours. Maybe it’s a lighting package. Or maybe a sound system to serenade us with Randy Newman’s Monsters, Inc. score as we hunt for a shade-covered bench.
Fun fact
Andy Martin is the featured trombonist on the Monsters, Inc. soundtrack. He also performed Connie’s solo in Soul. That has nothing to do with Elite A/V’s upcoming work in Hollywood Studios, but that’s the beauty of running your own website. I don’t have to answer to editors.
Anyway, an Imagineering permit assigning work to an audio-visual specialist for a park is something. However this space comes together, it looks like Disney wants it to feel like more than just a place to sit.
