Universal Kids Resort Has Begun Hiring
I made it out to Universal Kids Resort during working hours on Friday. While construction is still all about moving earth, I was blown away by what I saw. It’s not a surprise that Universal is already hiring for Universal Kids Resort staff.
A single excavator was supplying several articulated dump trucks with tons of dirt. I don’t know what size bucket was on that machine, but it overfilled those dump boxes with only four scoops. Yes, I googled “parts of a dump truck.”
The trucks then dumped the dirt in low-lying areas at the center of the future resort. Bulldozers quickly leveled the ground before the next truck drove in. It was a highly coordinated effort that took me back to the summers I worked in construction during college. That’s why you’re about to see an 11-minute video and 34 photos of the job site.

My apologies for the wind noise in the video. I’m not a vlogger, and I don’t have an external microphone for my camera. I thought about dropping in an orchestral score, but I didn’t want to pay Hans Zimmer royalties for a video that’ll get tens of views.
In addition to park construction, Panther Creek Parkway is also being expanded a couple of miles. The crews were done for the day by the time I showed up, but you can see how much work has been completed for the new road.
Finally, the Cobb Hill neighborhood privacy wall is complete. Landscaping crews were power washing the sidewalk after they had planted sod and shrubs earlier in the day. The wall is a nice addition but will do nothing to offset the construction noise homeowners will hear for the next two years.
