Mr. DNA’s Double Helix Spin Installed at Universal Kids Resort
Update (October 25, 2025): Mr. DNA’s Double Helix Spin has been installed at Universal Kids Resort.
Mr. DNA’s Double Helix Spin is now standing in Jurassic World Adventure Camp, positioned near the Cretaceous Coaster and the Lookout Towers. The colorful Metallbau Emmeln Flying Wheels attraction adds another striking element to the growing dinosaur-themed skyline, and we’ve got plenty of photos to prove it.

Aahs n Oohs spotted an anemometer atop the ride’s central column, hinting that Mr. DNA’s Double Helix Spin may close during high winds. Flying Wheels are between 12 and 13.5 meters tall. If it’s the latter, this is the tallest attraction in the park, edging out the Cretaceous Coaster.

Our original story:
It’s always a good day when new ride vehicles land in Frisco. Tonight, surrounded by storms, I spotted a Metallbau Emmeln Flying Wheels sitting in the Universal Kids Resort staging lot. The tower ride is headed for the Jurassic World-themed land, and we’re pretty sure we know its name: Mr. DNA’s Double Helix Spin. Universal filed the trademark back in early March. As always, thanks to Aahs n Oohs for his insights.

Before we get to the ride, let’s provide some background. Mr. DNA, the animated character in the original Jurassic Park film, was created to explain how InGen brought dinosaurs back to life. His body was made up of a series of circles, a design detail echoed on the Flying Wheels’ center column. Here, though, the circles resemble floating bubbles.

The red, blue, and yellow bubbles match the gondolas’ color palette.

The Flying Wheels attraction is found in the heart of Universal Kids’ Jurassic World-themed land. A covered half-circle queue partially wraps around the tower. The ride is surrounded by two Zamperla Jumping Towers (top left), the Cretaceous Coaster (bottom), and a Jurassic-themed building.

What riders can expect
The Metallbau Emmeln Flying Wheels stands between 12 and 13.5 meters tall and delivers a ride full of motion. Three gondolas are mounted on each side of the tower, which spins during the ride. As the tower turns, the gondolas rise and fall while also rotating vertically. On top of that, guests can spin their individual vehicles. That’s four separate motions happening at once. If it sounds a little dizzying, we recommend checking out this video of a Flying Wheels in action.
Like every attraction at Universal Kids Resort, Flying Wheels is designed for children of all ages. However, riders under 8 must be accompanied by an adult.
Mr. DNA’s Double Helix Spin is shaping up to be one of the most visually fun rides at Universal Kids Resort. Its bright design and nonstop motion should be a hit with younger guests. We’ll keep you updated as the installation progresses.

I may have gone overboard with photos, but tonight’s sky was too beautiful not to share. So here are a few extra shots. I hope you enjoy them!
