New Signage, Electrical Permits Filed for Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster

Walt Disney Imagineering has filed three Notices of Commencement for work on the Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster. As you know, Aerosmith is being evicted to make room for The Muppets. These permits cover work tied to that retheme.

Two of the filings are for electrical work. Those contracts are assigned to Elite A/V Systems Inc. and Solotech. Disney hasn’t specified how the work is divided, but Elite A/V Systems specializes in modifying and custom-fitting equipment housings for audio-visual components.

Solotech, meanwhile, focuses on LED walls, projection mapping, surround sound, and lighting systems. The company is also involved in the ongoing Glob Theater transformation in Monstropolis.

The third permit covers signage installation and is assigned to Sign Producers, Inc. It’s unclear where those will be installed, seeing as signs can be found all over Sunset Boulevard and inside the ride building.

All told, this is another filing that offers limited substance beyond confirming contractors. Still, it helps us pretend we’re solving a mystery, and adds a little excitement to a Friday afternoon between meetings.
