Imagineering Files Set Installation, Electrical Work Permits at Magic of Disney Animation

Walt Disney Imagineering has filed four additional Notices of Commencement tied to work at The Magic of Disney Animation and The Walt Disney Studios at Hollywood Studios.

Three of the permits cover interior work at The Magic of Disney Animation building, while the fourth focuses on electrical upgrades to the former studio archway, now serving as the entrance sign to the reimagined space.

The entrance sign permit is most likely tied to lighting upgrades.

Inside the building is where things get more interesting. PCL Services will handle set installations, signaling that physical show elements are moving into place. The company has been active in Hollywood Studios, most notably helping transform Muppets Courtyard into Monstropolis.

Meanwhile, Elite A/V Systems and Solotech are both listed for “electrical work.” Elite A/V specializes in housings and infrastructure for audio-visual components, while Solotech is known for LED walls, projection mapping, surround sound, and advanced lighting systems. Both firms are also involved in work inside the Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster building as it transitions to The Muppets.

Electrical permits may sound routine, but combined with set installations and specialized A/V contractors, they signal a major step forward. Just yesterday, we learned about Olaf Draws!, a new animation experience coming to Hollywood Studios. Other offerings include the Enchanted Art Gallery, the Once Upon a Studio Theater, the Drawn to Wonderland playground, and six new character interactions.
