Stage 1 Company Store Demolished in Hollywood Studios

The Stage 1 Company Store has been demolished, marking the biggest casualty in the Muppets Courtyard’s Monstropolis retheme. The former gift shop will make way for a new park area. Aerial photos from Bioreconstruct reveal the destruction.

Here’s a reminder of what Stage 1 looked like a few months ago.

In addition to the Stage 1 rubble, Bio’s photos also reveal torn-up concrete near the former Muppet*Vision 3D theater and plywood covering windows on the remaining buildings to shield them from flying debris. I’ll never get used to seeing the fountain without its Miss Piggy centerpiece.

Seeing the Stage 1 rubble marks a sad end to one of Disney World’s greatest stores. The gift shop closed during Covid, opening only occasionally for special events since. However, its removal will open up the land, allowing guests to see the enormous scare/laugh factory being added to the Cast Member parking lot.
