Exterior Painting Begins at Universal Kids Resort Hotel

Crews have begun painting the Universal Kids Resort hotel exterior. And its colorful facade is living up to the concept art. Here’s a reminder of what that looks like.

While the rendering shows the hotel’s main entrance, crews are painting the building’s south side. Those rooms don’t appear to include the contours seen on the front of the building. Instead, they match those partially hidden by the tree on the right side of the concept art.
My photos don’t pop like the renderings, but that’s because a massive thunderhead was bearing down on me during my visit. I’m looking forward to photographing this building under a beautiful blue sky once the scaffolding comes down. But for now, it’s nice to see something other than GP DensGlass Sheathing.

Paint isn’t the only thing new this week. City crews recently paved the westbound lanes for the Panther Creek Parkway expansion. This road will eventually connect the Dallas North Tollway with Preston Road to the east. My quiet Sunday afternoons at Universal Kids Resort will be a little less peaceful in the coming months.

Universal Kids Resort will begin welcoming guests in 2026.
