Universal Kids Resort Will Accept TollTag for Parking

Crews at Universal Kids Resort have started installing internal roadway signage for ride-share drop-offs and theme park and hotel parking. The signs, reminiscent of those found at Universal Orlando Resort, also revealed a welcome sight for North Texas residents. Guests will be able to use TollTag when paying for parking at the resort.

TollTag, the electronic toll system operated by the North Texas Tollway Authority, allows drivers to move through toll plazas without stopping. Electronic readers scan a small RFID chip embedded in a windshield sticker, automatically deducting the toll from the customer’s account.

While most people associate TollTag with North Texas’ many toll roads, the system can also be used to park at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Dallas Love Field, and soon, Universal Kids Resort. It’s a huge benefit to both Universal and those waiting in line to park.

The resort’s toll plaza includes four lanes. We wouldn’t be surprised if at least one of those is a dedicated TollTag lane. Drivers would still need to stop, but only briefly, while the system scans the tag and debits the parking fee. Even so, it’s faster than paying an attendant or swiping a card.

This is a smart decision. North Texas drivers already know and trust TollTag. By embracing it, Universal will reduce friction where it’s needed most, when the kids are ready to bolt from their car to ride SpongeBob’s bus instead.
