Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Rara Band Revealed
Dinsey just announced Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Rara band, the second ensemble featured on the attraction. Rara originated in Haiti and is popular in New Orleans street processions and festivals. Musicians perform on make-shift instruments. Tiana’s band embraces this tradition by playing on vaksins, drums, and horns fashioned from bayou materials (much like the Zydeco band announced last week).
Disney will reveal the last group of musicians next week. With 12 announced so far, this ride promises to have a boatload of Audio-Animatronics! I can’t wait to see them all when the ride opens this summer in Walt Disney World.
Let’s meet the Rara band!
When not playing in the band, Octavia the Bobcat is a daredevil kitten who loves climbing trees in the bayou. She plays the vaksin, a single-note trumpet popular in Rara music.
Rara bands often have multiple vaksin performers, and Tiana’s band is no different. Pawpaw the Bobcat also plays the vaksin, like his granddaughter Octavia. He taught her how to play and lives to see her smile.
The Rara band is a family affair. Claude the Lousiana Black Bear is a “salt of the mound” thinker who loves to create things from materials he finds in the forest. He and his partner play horn in the band.
Bernadette loves bayou life, especially when swimming in the bayou and munching on plants. She always has an eye on her son Sebastián.
Sebastián didn’t want to play the horn like his parents, so he opted for drums. He loves exploring the smallest details of the bayou and loves hanging with Octavia.
Phina the Gray Fox is a high-energy drummer in the band. This unique thinker is always working on something new and exciting..
You’ll be able to hear Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Rara band when the ride debuts this summer in Walt Disney World and later this year in Disneyland.
