Test Track to Reopen in Late Summer 2025
Disney has updated the Test Track refurbishment timeline. They initially posted that the ride would open in late 2025 but later amended that to “late summer 2025”.
“Get ready to feel the thrill of the open road, the wind in your hair, and nothing but adventure ahead! Test Track presented by General Motors is making its return lap late summer 2025. Walt Disney Imagineering has been working with General Motors on an all-new storyline – you’ll want to be all buckled in for an adventure. You might even see cars returning to the track (for testing…at Test Track…nice) with their new look early in the year!”
Disney shared details about the 3.0 version of the ride during last summer’s D23 event. Everything from the queue to the ride will be updated. The queue will include “six distinct exhibits, and within each room celebrate the vehicles – and people behind the vehicles – that push the envelope and help get people to our next chapter in our motion journey.”
For the ride itself, Disney said new scenes will showcase “technological advances and how our lifestyles and relationships to mobility connect everyone.” The indoor scenes will focus on “technology, customization, and personalization.” My favorite is their description of the final segment of the ride: “a trip through a scenic outdoor route reminding us all of the joys of driving, taking in the world around us and spending quality time with friends and family.”
My hope is the inject some of the humor found in Test Track 1.0 back into the attraction.
