Rockwork Sculptures Unveiled at Fantasy Springs

Tokyo DisneySea is already known for its stunning details and immersive theming. Fantasy Springs promises to elevate the park’s draw even further, thanks in part to the land’s impressive rockwork. The rock formations showcase sculptures of several Disney animated characters. Imagineer Zsolt Hormay and his team worked closely with artists from Walt Disney Animation Studios to bring the characters to life.

“Each figure boasts a unique design. For example, Anna and Elsa have a full body sculpted within the rock, while Rapunzel’s focuses on her head, which was intentionally adorned with flowers. The goal was to convey the story that these figures are sculpted by water and the detailing of the faces were key in accomplishing this goal.”

The artificial rock creations appear to be anything but. The setting looks natural, as if the park was built around the rugged terrain. The land really comes alive at night. I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t started pricing Tokyo flights. By all accounts, Tokyo DisneySea was already one of the world’s great theme parks, even before Fantasy Springs was a reality. With Peter Pan, Tangled, and Frozen areas opening this summer, it’s going to be even better.
