Mickey & Friends Character Meet and Greet
My family flew to Orlando last month for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure previews. We rode it almost three times, so our trip was a huge success. Fortunately for us, we were also able to experience CommuniCore, which had opened a few days before. The Hall’s interior is… fine. I’ll talk about it another time. Today, I want to share my impressions and photos of the Mickey & Friends character meet and greet.
Compared to CommuniCore Hall, Mickey & Friends offers great theming, much of it paying homage to vintage EPCOT. Outdoors, you’ll find beautiful murals featuring past and present park icons. Horizons, the Robot Butler, Figment, the Dreamfinder’s Dream Mobile, and a Nova Corps Star Blaster are just some of the things you’ll see in the artwork

Mickey & Friends Queue
The Mickey & Friends queue begins outside, but it is covered. The geodesic triangle motif found throughout CommuniCore is mostly open in the queue area. Large ceiling fans kept the air moving on the blazing hot day I visited.
The mural in this area showcases Mickey and Minnie in spacesuits. Goofy flies his spaceship over the Wonders of Life Pavilion.
The interior queue is equally beautiful. You should be able to spot several EPCOT icons no longer in the park, including the Fountain Of Nations, a Universe of Energy dinosaur, and Wonders of Life.
Meeting the characters
The now-closed Innoventions’ Character Spot had room for the Fab Five (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto). Unfortunately, Mickey & Friends is smaller, so you’ll only be able to hang with Mickey and two of his friends. On the day I visited, I was able to pose with Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy.
Mickey greeted each group at the door before escorting them to his area. His backdrop includes Spaceship Earth and the Monorail.
Goofy mimed about my height to a Cast Member. I’m tall, but he was a giant. I asked for some solo photos, so he straightened his ears to look his best. Goofy was my favorite interaction that day. His backdrop included the Imagination Pavilion.
Minnie was also happy to pose for some solo shots. These characters probably don’t get many requests from weird guys with cameras, but they were happy to accommodate me that day.
Minnie’s backdrop also includes the Monorail, this time traveling past the Land Pavilion.
Mickey & Friends offers fun character interactions. Disney meet and greets are always great, but the love Imagineers put into this space made this one extra special. Make plans to drop by, especially if you have the PhotoPass service.
Finally, does anyone remember SMRT-1? I sure didn’t.
