Magic Kingdom Rides Go Offline After Earthquake Felt in Central Florida
A 6.1-magnitude earthquake off the coast of Cuba was felt across parts of Central Florida this afternoon. Most guests in the parks probably never noticed it. Magic Kingdom’s ride systems, however, definitely did.
According to Thrill-Data.com, several attractions went offline shortly after the tremors reached Orlando:
- The Barnstormer
- Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
- Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
- Space Mountain
- Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
- TRON Lightcycle / Run
As of this writing, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train remains closed. Some of the other attractions were down for more than two hours before returning to service. Our friends in the park were forced to spend their afternoon with Disney’s C- and D-list attractions. Thoughts and prayers.
Kevin told us he felt a gentle swaying sensation and noticed a monitor moving on his desk. I’ve experienced something similar before. It feels less like an earthquake and more like someone slammed a door somewhere else in the house.
The last time Walt Disney World dealt with widespread attraction downtime was in August 2025, when a power surge knocked more than 40 attractions offline.
