Imagineering Files Tropical Americas Construction Permits
Walt Disney Imagineering has filed three permits for construction work in Animal Kingdom’s upcoming Tropical Americas. While the Notices of Commencement offer few specifics, they confirm that Whiting-Turner Contracting Company will lead the work. The company is responsible for several large Disney World construction projects, including Galaxy’s Edge.

The permits list three Dinoland Drive addresses, one of which is the former Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures store. That structure survived Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama demolition and will most likely be preserved. The other two permits are for former backstage areas. The permits for the Treasures store and one of the backstage areas are for “General Construction.” The second backstage area’s work is described as “General Construction and Area Development.” We expect that work to be for the Encanto-themed ride coming to Tropical Americas.
These permits probably aren’t all that newsworthy, but they’re still interesting to me. And writing these posts is my reward for regularly scouring the Orange County Comptroller and South Florida Water Management District websites. I hope to share more engaging Tropical Americas news soon.
