First Listen: Magic Mirror Sings in “Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After”
Disney took us behind the scenes of the recording session for “Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After.” In addition to hearing a few seconds of the show’s original song, we’re also treated to interviews with several Disney Live Entertainment Creative team members. Conductor Roger Butterley tells us what audiences can expect from the musical score: “It’s a little bit rock and roll, a little bit of orchestra, and classic Gothic score. It is just fun from start to finish.”
Tim Heintz, the show’s music arranger, confirmed that Unfairly Ever After is focused on three villains: “Basically, the show is built around three classic villains. We’ve got Cruella de Vil, we’ve got Hook, and we’ve got Maleficent.” The trio will have to share the stage with the Magic Mirror, who apparently has some musical chops. Doug Morris, the show’s music producer, said, “This show is groundbreaking in that the Magic Mirror does more than just talk. He’s actually going to have a song of his very own.”
The video ends with the Magic Mirror singing these lyrics:
“Magic Mirror on the wall,
Who’s most misunderstood of all?
But I can’t judge, I just reflect.
So what you see is what you get.”
