Disney Destiny to Feature Giant Hydra in Hercules Stage Show

Disney Destiny to Feature Giant Hydra in Hercules Stage Show

The Disney Treasure has a 15-foot Te Kā. The Disney Destiny is getting an equally enormous hydra. The mythological creature will grace the stage during the ship’s adaptation of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Hercules.

“Disney Hercules” will stay true to the story and spirit of the beloved film with a fresh, contemporary retelling centered around the legendary soundtrack. Featuring a celebration of iconic songs like “Go the Distance,” “Zero to Hero” and “I Won’t Say I’m in Love,” this show will present incredible live renditions like you’ve never heard before through new musical arrangements inspired by the soulfulness of gospel music with the energy of a pop concert.

In addition to the film’s iconic soundtrack, the show will include “Shooting Star.” The ballad was originally written for the movie by Alan Menken and David Zippel.

So how do you bring the Greek gods and mythical creatures to life on a cruise ship? You bring in Michael Curry to create larger-than-life puppets. Spoiler alert: Hercules can handle them all. The show will also feature the movie’s familiar muses, with their “over-the-top personalities and transcendent vocals.”

The Disney Destiny will have three stage shows. In addition to “Disney Hercules,” guests can enjoy “Frozen, A Musical Spectacular” and “Disney Seas the Adventure.”

The Destiny sets sail on November 20, 2025.
