DAS Passes Now Valid for Up to One Year

Disney has made another adjustment to its Disability Access Service (DAS). Starting today, DAS passes are now valid for up to one year, an increase from the previous 240-day limit. This is a nice benefit for Annual Passholders and Magic Keyholders, seeing as their park tickets are also valid for an entire year. Those with regular park tickets are less fortunate. Their DAS passes expire after their last ticket is used. Here’s the official language:

DAS is valid for the length of the ticket or up to 1 year, whichever is shorter. Once the service has elapsed, Guests need to re-register for the program.

Disney made sweeping changes to its DAS service last year, the result of widespread abuse of the system. Disney limited DAS eligibility to those guests with a “developmental disability such as autism or similar.” At the time, they required users to renew their passes every 120 days, later updating it to 240 days. Now, users can wait up to one year between those DAS renewal sessions.

Mariann Bell is happy with the latest update and calls it a win for Passholders who use DAS. But she wants Disney to take it a step further by granting lifetime DAS passes to those with profound autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, and other conditions. It’s a valid request, especially considering how her son’s DAS renewals play out.
