Universal Kids Resort Begins Installing Perimeter Entrance Signs in Frisco

Universal Kids Resort Begins Installing Perimeter Entrance Signs in Frisco

The first of four Universal Kids Resort entrance signs is now going in along the road to the Universal Kids Resort Hotel. The oversized marquee features the resort’s circular logo framed by colorful geometric blocks, matching the park’s playful aesthetic.

Crews have already set the bottom half of the sign onto a concrete footer in the median. The top half remains on a nearby flatbed, staged for installation. We expect it to be in place when we visit tomorrow evening. I’ll update this post with photos once it’s up.

This is one of four signs planned around the perimeter of the Frisco, Texas, property. In addition to the hotel entrance along Panther Creek Parkway, crews will install another on Universal Parkway near the main parking lot entrance. The remaining two are slated for the northwest and southwest corners along the Dallas Parkway.

Three of the four footers have already been poured. The final location is formed and ready for concrete.

Back at the hotel entrance, crews have removed the guard shack and temporary chain-link fence – fixtures of the site for the past two years. With the road now open, I’ve seen cars making their way up to the hotel’s porte-cochère.

An A-frame sign makes it clear the hotel isn’t open and that a Team Member ID is required, but the nighttime activity suggests hospitality training is underway. We’ve also learned that Team Members from Florida and Hollywood have been staying on-site as guests. Because training needs real people.

The sign positioned at the hotel’s entrance is now structurally complete, but it is missing the large “kids” letters on each side.

Crews began installing a second sign at the main theme park entrance off Universal Parkway.

The last of the four footers was poured on the southwest corner of the site today.

This will be the last update for a while. We’re heading to Orlando to take photos of some finished parks. But Universal’s crews gave me a nice going away present as they installed the “kids” letters on the hotel entrance sign, completed the sign at the main park entrance, and added the third sign at the northwest corner of the lot.

The sky cooperated, giving me a beautiful backdrop for all three signs. But those marquees are doing the heavy lifting. Kudos to Universal Creative for designing something that absolutely pops.

The hotel entrance sign is the only one of the four to include the Universal Kids Resort logo on both sides. We expected that for the signs that back up to the shrubs on the corners of the lot. But we were a little suprised to see the main entrance sign is one-sided as well. Guests approaching from the northbound lanes on Universal Parkway won’t be treated to those beautiful bubble letters.
