Tokyo DisneySea Announces 25th Anniversary Celebration

Tokyo DisneySea opened on September 4, 2001, which means its 25th anniversary is almost here. Disney is planning a nearly year-long celebration to mark the occasion. From April 15, 2026, through March 31, 2027, guests will be treated to “new entertainment, colorful park decor, food and beverage items, and plenty of adorable merchandise.”

Every time I share a photo celebrating the Tree of Life or other beautiful park icons, I’m met with a vocal group of fans: “Have you been to DisneySea?” Their enthusiasm reminds me of Seinfeld’s “ya gotta see the baby!” episode, except in this case, Tokyo DisneySea actually lives up to the hype. Apparently, the baby was ugly.

For those who’ve never visited, Tokyo DisneySea has eight sea-themed ports:

  • Mediterranean Harbor, an Italian port city
  • Mysterious Island and its amazing Mount Prometheus
  • Mermaid Lagoon, home to The Little Mermaid
  • Arabian Coast, home to Aladdin
  • Lost River Delta, home to Indiana Jones
  • Port Discovery, home to the Marine Life Institute
  • American Waterfront, themed to the northeastern US during the early 1900s
  • Fantasy Springs, home to Frozen Kingdom, Rapunzel’s Forest, and Peter Pan’s Never Land

So what’s coming to Tokyo DisneySea’s 25th celebration?

Duffy and Friends

Duffy debuted at Tokyo DisneySea 20 years ago. Now a worldwide phenomenon, Duffy and Friends 25th anniversary merchandise will be available throughout the event.

Sparkling Jubilee Celebration

Disney is rolling out two 25th anniversary shows for the occasion. The first is the Sparkling Jubilee Celebration. From Disney:

“Bringing guests from every corner of the world together in a celebration of the quarter-century mark, Mickey Mouse and friends will sail into the Mediterranean Harbor aboard a specially decorated barge during the “Sparking Jubilee Celebration.” Look forward to seeing your favorite characters celebrate the anniversary in style during this cheerful gathering!”

Dance the Globe!

A second show, Dance the Globe!, will be held at the Waterfront Park in American Waterfront. The limited-time performances will feature Mickey and other Disney characters dancing to music from around the world. Here’s the lineup:

  • Mickey and his friends in special outfits themed to the event
  • Rapunzel from Tangled
  • Hiro from Big Hero 6
  • Mirabel from Encanto (making her Tokyo DisneySea debut)

25th anniversary decorations

As you’d expect, the park will be decked out for the celebration. The theme – “Jubilee Blue” – is inspired by the park’s seas. The color will feature prominently throughout the park. In addition, projections will be displayed on the Tokyo DisneySea Hotel MiraCosta each evening, accompanied by the anniversary’s theme song.

Specifics are scarce, but you can count on DisneySea bringing it with their 25th anniversary food options, including “flavored popcorn, chilly shaved ice, and those iconic Little Green Dumplings.” Disney promises “special food wagons and additional menu items” are coming to the park, as well.

It’s not like anyone needs more incentive to visit Tokyo DisneySea, but the 25th anniversary might spur even more Disney fans to make the long trek. The park’s jubilee celebration runs from April 15, 2026, through March 31, 2027.
