Smugglers Run Lets Engineers Choose Planets – Yes, Even Coruscant

I should be in bed. I just finished playing music at a nearly four-hour Easter vigil, and I have to be up to play again in five hours. But Disney shared important Star Wars news, so I’m writing an article. What news could keep me from getting sleep? Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run is getting a fourth location — Coruscant. More importantly, guests will play an active role in how the mission plays out.
At this year’s SXSW, Disney shared details about how The Mandalorian and Grogu will be incorporated into Smugglers Run. We learned riders will visit Tatooine, Bespin, or the Death Star wreckage above Endor. Tonight, Imagineers and Lucasfilm creatives at Star Wars Celebration Japan added one more location: Coruscant. And they released some beautiful concept art.

Concept art and Coruscant are cool, but what about the new gameplay? For the first time, riders will determine where the Falcon flies. Specifically, engineers will choose the destination planet. They’ll also be in charge of communicating with Grogu. Single Riders might not be relegated to the back seat much longer.

Disney also shared details about the new story. I thought Hondo Ohnaka might get replaced, but that’s not happening. Here’s what Disney Parks Blog had to say about his involvement:
“In this new thrilling storyline, Hondo Ohnaka has gotten wind of a deal going down on Tatooine between ex-Imperial officers and a band of pirates. There’s a generous bounty for their capture, so you’ll borrow the iconic ship and team up with Mando and Grogu to track them down and explore the galaxy.”
I can’t wait to fly the Falcon from the back seat when The Mandalorian and Grogu arrive in Galaxy’s Edge on May 22, 2026.
