Mandalorian and Grogu Mission Coming to Smugglers Run
The Millennium Falcon is the most iconic ship in the Star Wars universe. It’s evaded countless Star Destroyers, survived being swallowed by an Exogorth, and helped blow up the second Death Star. Yet with all that rich history, the Smugglers Run storyline has us stealing coaxium from the First Order for Hondo Ohnaka. And we’ve been doing that for five years.

I complain, yet I still ride Smugglers Run whenever we visit Hollywood Studios. I am a Star Wars geek, after all. But I’ve always wanted more from this attraction. If I’m going to sit third row and tap buttons as an engineer, I want compelling action outside the cockpit windows. It sounds like that might be happening. Dave Filoni shared the welcome news at last night’s D23 Parks panel presentation:
“The intersection of storytelling and innovation has always been central to Lucasfilm and we’re excited to see where this collaboration will take us next. Just imagine it: you’ll be able to fly alongside Mando and Grogu on thrilling, and dangerous, missions.”
Dave Filoni, Executive Vice President / Chief Creative Officer, Lucasfilm
The updated Smugglers Run storyline won’t be revealed until 2026 when The Mandalorian and Grogu is released in theaters.
