Shanghai Disney Resort Announces Fourth Hotel and Disneytown Expansion

Shanghai Disney Resort has announced plans for its fourth themed hotel, to be built on land just east of the park’s main entrance. The project is part of a larger expansion that will also bring new shopping, dining, and entertainment options to Disneytown.

The announcement comes as work continues on the resort’s third hotel, an Art Nouveau–inspired property. Shanghai Disneyland Hotel and Toy Story Hotel round out the current lineup, though neither sits as close to the park entrance as what’s being planned. Here’s what Shanghai Disney Resort shared on Instagram:

“We’re once again expanding the fun! [Shanghai Disney Resort] is building a fourth Disney-themed hotel and expanding our shopping, dining, and entertainment district! The new hotel will be located immediately adjacent to the [Shanghai Disneyland] entrance, making it the closest Disney hotel to the park and a perfect gateway for guests to begin their magical experience. The new development will include new shopping experiences!”

Along with the expansion news, Shanghai Disney Resort announced it has welcomed its 100 millionth guest, a milestone reached in just over nine years. According to the Themed Entertainment Association, Shanghai Disneyland was the fifth most-visited theme park in the world in 2024. With that kind of demand, expanding hotel capacity makes perfect sense. Inside the park, growth hasn’t slowed either. Recent projects include Toy Story Land, the Ignite the Dream nighttime spectacular, the Zootopia-themed land, and the upcoming Spider-Man-themed land.
