New DVC Lounge: McKim’s Mile House Opens in Magic Kingdom
Disney announced that McKim’s Mile House, originally set to debut this summer, will instead open at 11 AM today. DVC’s newest lounge can be found in Magic Kingdom’s Frontierland. Here’s how Disney announced the early opening:
Howdy, folks! Needing some rest during an adventurous day in the parks? Well, just a hop, skip and a jump down the bayou, eligible* Disney Vacation Club members can now enjoy Disney Vacation Club McKim’s Mile House – A Member Lounge in Magic Kingdom Park.

As we previously shared, the new lounge pays tribute Sam McKim, an artist and Disney Legend who contributed to Disneyland’s original Frontierland. Imagineers combined McKim’s style with “historic mile houses of the American West.” Mile houses, or hotels, could be found across the frontier. They offered travelers a chance to relax, much like McKim’s Mile House will allow DVC members a space to recover from Magic Kingdom park days. The “fictional McKim family of hospitality pioneers” runs DVC’s version.
While the lounge has two floors, guests will only have access to the first. The upper floor is home to boarding rooms, one of which is occupied by Barnabas T. Bullion, founder of Big Thunder Mining Company. Another is being used by M. Davis, a nod to Disney Legend Marc Davis.
Disney also confirmed something I had hoped for. Sam McKim’s original artwork will be on display.
Like every DVC lounge, McKim’s Mile House provides guests with complimentary WiFi, charging stations, Freestyle Cokes, and snacks. The space is open to eligible members daily from 11 AM to 6 PM. Look for the DVC-Y on your digital membership card to confirm your eligibility.
