First Look at the Coco Float in the Disney Starlight Parade

If there’s a Disney IP worthy of a nighttime parade float, it’s Coco. Its color palette and amazing details are perfect for nighttime on Main Street, U.S.A. Thankfully, Disney agrees. The upcoming Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away will feature a Coco float. The concept art, complete with Mary Blair-inspired stardust, looks beautiful.

Here’s what the Disney Parks Blog had to say about Coco’s float:

“Disney Starlight” will get un poco loco with a new Coco float at Magic Kingdom! In a celebration of the Pixar Animation Studios film, sounds of Mariachi music will announce the arrival of a larger-than-life Pepita, wings spread above the parade route. Below, Miguel will strum his guitar at the foot of a marigold bridge to the Land of the Dead, complete with sugar skull fireworks.”

Pepita is Mamma Imelda’s alebrije, her spirit guide in the afterlife. The colorful character has the body and face of a big cat, eagle wings and talons, ram horns, and a lizard tail. In other words, she’s perfect for a Magic Kingdom float. She’s going to pop at night.

In addition to the Coco concept art, Disney also shared the parade’s official poster, which will be displayed in the Main Street, U.S.A. train station. Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away debuts in Magic Kingdom this summer.
