DVC Reveals Magic Kingdom’s Member Lounge Mural
Disney Vacation Club is ramping up the marketing for McKim’s Mile House, the new member lounge coming to Frontierland in Magic Kingdom. Today, DVC shared a picture of a mural painted on the lounge’s exterior. The painting refers to the space as “the frontier’s best kept secret.” The lounge is hardly a secret (thanks to sites like ours), but it will remain a mystery to most park goers even after it opens. DVC lounges are exclusive to eligible owners and their guests.
We spoke with a Cast Member during a recent visit to Disney Springs’ DVC member lounge. They confirmed that Frontierland’s space will be smaller than what guests are used to in EPCOT’s lounge. With that being the case, owners may wish to sign up for Membership Magic Beyond. That paid service provides priority access to all DVC lounges. McKim’s Mile House is going to be very popular. Complimentary Freestyle Cokes are no joke.
Finally, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Sam McKim, the Imagineer whose name graces the new lounge. McKim’s artwork helped define Disneyland. His first sketches were for Frontierland’s Slue Foot Sue’s Golden Horsehoe Review. He also contributed to Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, Carousel of Progress, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Haunted Mansion. In Florida, his artwork helped influence The Hall of Presidents, Universe of Energy, and Disney-MGM Studios. I admit I didn’t know his name before Disney announced the lounge. But now I can’t wait to see how they’ve honored him in the new space.
