Imagineering Files Permit for Hollywood Studios Toll Plaza Work

Walt Disney Imagineering has filed a Notice of Commencement for work at 750 N. Studio Drive, better known as the Hollywood Studios toll plaza.

We don’t usually open the editor for toll plaza permits. But Imagineering’s name on the paperwork got our attention. When they’re involved, it usually signals something more than routine maintenance.

Unfortunately, the permit itself doesn’t offer much clarity. The scope of work is simply listed as “General Construction,” with no additional details. PCL Construction Services is tasked with the work. The company is currently handling the transformation of Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano and PizzeRizzo into Monster-friendly establishments. PCL was also responsible for the demolition of the Stage 1 Company Store.

To be clear, we’re not expecting a major overhaul here. The Hollywood Studios toll plaza only debuted in 2018 after being relocated from the opposite side of the park. Its design perfectly matches the Streamline Moderne style used throughout the park. There’s no obvious reason for significant changes.

Still, with Imagineering attached to the permit, this is a filing worth watching.
