Disney Taps Icarus Exhibits for Fort Wilderness Pool Enhancements

Walt Disney Imagineering has filed a Notice of Commencement permit for work on the Meadow Swimmin’ Pool area at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. Like most NOCs, this permit doesn’t provide many specifics about the work to be done, simply saying crews will “install set elements.” But it does reveal something that has us excited: Icarus Exhibits, Inc. is listed as the contractor. More on them in a bit.

In June, Disney announced the Meadow Swimmin’ Pool would be getting a second, zero-entry pool, a new tennis court, and two pickleball courts. The expansion will double the size of the area’s current footprint. Thanks to Bioreconstruct, we can see the work in progress. He shot the article’s lead image in October.

Icarus Exhibits has collaborated with Disney’s Imagineers for two decades. Their work should be well-known to Disney fans. They’ve created several incredible installations found throughout Walt Disney World, including:

Icarus Exhibits’ involvement at Fort Wilderness is an exciting development. The Meadow Swimmin’ Pool expansion is shaping up to be much cooler than I expected.
