Disney Shares Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Sign Photos, Soft Opens Ride

Disney shared photos of Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin’s new marquee on social media this morning. Shortly after, the ride soft opened in Magic Kingdom.

We expected a soft open, but maybe not quite this early. Cast Member and media previews took place last week. Those must have gone well enough for Disney to remove the construction walls and welcome guests this morning. The timing is perfect. The week leading into Easter is one of Walt Disney World’s busiest times. Space Ranger Spin isn’t a huge people eater, but adding capacity is always a good thing.

The My Disney Experience (MDE) app isn’t advertising the ride’s availability or wait times. There’s also no Lightning Lane availability. That’s the nature of soft openings. Disney’s still testing and is willing to pull the plug if the need arises.

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin officially debuts on April 8, 2026, with new scoring, handheld blasters, and Buddy. We’ll keep our countdown clock in place even if it’s now more ceremonial than useful.
