Disney Expands DAS Registration Window and Updates Policy Wording

Since rolling out sweeping changes to its Disability Access Service (DAS) last May, Disney continues to fine-tune the program. Today, they expanded the registration window, allowing guests to apply for DAS up to 60 days before their visit — doubling the previous 30-day period.
Mariann Bell appreciates the update because it gives those who aren’t approved time to pivot: “They can plan to either purchase Lightning Lane Multi Passes or the Premier Pass, adjust their plans, or cancel altogether.”
Final payments for Disney Vacation Packages are due 30 days before arrival. Learning about a DAS denial on the same day as the final payment deadline would be a tough blow. Now, guests have a full month to plan accordingly.
Interestingly, Disney also made a seemingly innocuous change to the DAS policy wording.
DAS is one of our programs offered at the Walt Disney World Resort theme parks intended to accommodate
onlythose Guests who, due to a developmental disability such as autism or a similar disorder, are unable to wait in a conventional queue for an extended period of time.
You’ll notice that “only” has been removed from the policy. Does that word’s removal signal more changes are coming to DAS? It’s possible. Or it’s possible that Disney’s lawyers simply asked for the change. Whatever the case, the update makes the service seem less restrictive now. Time will tell if that’s actually the case.

Disney World guests must register for Disney’s Disability Access Service in advance. It’s no longer possible to request DAS in the parks. Our reservation calculator will let you know when you can do that.
