Disney Destiny Celebrates Float Out with Fireworks and Music

The Disney Destiny got its first taste of sunshine today. Disney’s newest ship floated out of Hall 6 at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, earlier this morning. Hero Minnie Mouse was among the hundreds of onlookers making sure things went smoothly.

X’s Scott Gustin shared highlights of the celebration, including the reveal of the ship’s theme song.

The Hamburg Port Live YouTube channel broadcast the entire float out. Fast forward to 2:03 to see fireworks and hear the horns blast out “When You Wish Upon a Star” several times.

The Destiny will remain in the shipyard for several weeks before being towed down the Ems River to the North Sea. Once there, she’ll embark on a series of sea trials. Her maiden voyage from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is set for November 20, 2025.

Another Disney Cruise Line ship reached a major milestone this week. The fourth Wish-class vessel had its steel-cutting ceremony at Meyer Werft yesterday. That unnamed ship will set sail in 2027.
