Another Permit Filed for Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Muppets Retheme
Walt Disney Imagineering has filed another Notice of Commencement permit for work at 850 Sunset Boulevard, home of the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. The Jon Richards Company is the latest to install new set elements as the attraction transitions from Aerosmith to The Muppets.
This marks the second permit filed for the coaster in the past three weeks. A separate filing tasks Mecca Productions with additional set installation inside the building. Because the coaster remains operational – and will be for the next 52+ days – we suspect the work is focused on the preshow studio scene. That section of the queue was blocked from guests beginning December 1, making it the most logical area for behind-the-scenes changes while the ride continues to run.

Jon Richards’ crews are staying busy at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Beyond Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, they’re also working to transform the former Muppet*Vision 3D home into the Glob Theater for the upcoming Monstropolis land.
So far, we’re loving the plan by Disney Imagineers. They’re doing work where guests can’t see it, while the coaster keeps launching like nothing’s happening.
