Imagineering Files Permit for Muppets Set Installation at Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster

Things are moving quickly on Sunset Boulevard. Earlier this month, Disney quietly closed the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster preshow studio scene. Today, they’ve filed a Notice of Commencement permit to install set pieces in the show building. Presumably, the permit is for work in the same area since the rest of the attraction remains open to guests through March 1, 2026.

Mecca Productions is attached to the notice. The design and fabrication company is tasked with installing set elements, similar to the work they’re doing on the upcoming Indiana Jones attraction in Animal Kingdom.

The reimagined recording studio will feature several familiar Muppets, including members of the Electric Mayhem, Scooter, and a group of penguin audio engineers. Those penguins previously called Grand Avenue home, so it’s good to see them finding steady work again.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets debuts in summer 2026.
