Another OG Arrival: Princess Leia Comes to Galaxy’s Edge
Disney shared another first look at an original Star Wars trilogy character heading to Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland. This time, it’s Leia Organa. And she knows how to make an entrance. Leia arrives on Batuu at night, with only R2-D2 to greet her.
This is the second character reveal ahead of Disney relaxing the Galaxy’s Edge timeline on April 29. Han Solo got his moment yesterday, stepping out of Oga’s Cantina. It was fine, despite what the internet thinks. It really upsets people when theme park characters don’t look exactly like the movie stars who originally portrayed them.
But Leia’s reveal does land better. There’s something about the Princess descending the Millennium Falcon ramp that hits differently. John Williams’ “Princess Leia’s Theme” does a lot of heavy lifting here, too.
More first looks should be coming. Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, and some Imperial Stormtroopers will be landing in Batuu soon. In the case of Luke, it’s his second look. He was a regular in Galaxy’s Edge during last year’s Season of the Force.
