Universal Kids Resort Hotel Sign Installed in Frisco
The Universal Kids Resort Hotel has officially been branded. Earlier today, crews installed nine oversized letters spelling out UNIVERSAL on its facade. If there was any doubt about who owns the colorful hotel along the Dallas North Tollway, that’s been cleared up.

The install moved faster than expected. I arrived mid-morning to find “UNIV” already on the roof. By the time I found my spot on the sidewalk, the “E” had been bolted into place. We initially estimated the letters at around eight feet tall, but seeing them go up, they look closer to seven.
Winds were no joke today, but you wouldn’t know it watching the crane operator and the crew. Two workers held the taglines, keeping the letters steady as they rose into the air.

A two-person crew on the roof quickly bolted the letters into place before the crane reset for the next lift. I couldn’t stick around as long as I wanted, but it looked like I might catch the finished product before heading back to reality. Nope. The “L” slowed things down a bit thanks to its off-center weight distribution. It hovered a foot off the ground for ten minutes, taunting me. That was my cue to leave.

And yes, I went back later to get photos of the completed sign. Because of course I did. Universal Kids Resort keeps checking off some pretty big-ticket items, and after 26 months of walking this site, it’d be strange for me to stop now.
