Universal Kids Resort Hotel Sign Appears in Frisco Staging Lot
I used to swing by Universal Kids Resort a couple of times a week. That used to be enough. Not anymore. Between the activity inside the park and the steady stream of ride parts and playground equipment moving through the new staging lot, it feels like something new shows up every day.
Yesterday’s discovery was hard to miss: massive U-N-I-V-E-R-S-A-L letters that will form the Universal Kids Resort Hotel sign. Judging by concept art, we estimate each stands roughly eight feet tall. Attached electrical cords confirm the sign will also light up.

Interestingly, Universal branding wasn’t always part of the hotel’s original design. Earlier concepts didn’t include the sign. But the final version leaves no doubt about who owns and operates the place. The giant Trolls and Shrek murals may also provide clues to the people driving by on the Dallas North Tollway.

Aahs n Oohs zoomed in on one of my photos and spotted a logo for Design Communications Ltd. That name may sound familiar. They’re a regular theme park contributor, having supplied the signage for the updated Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin and several Epic Universe attractions.

In addition to the large letters, we can also see various signs for Jurassic World Adventure Camp attractions, including its sensory garden, Pteranodrop, and Paddock Play.
More branding will soon be installed five stories below the hotel’s Universal sign. Even larger letters will spell out the Universal Kids Resort logo that will greet guests entering the park. We haven’t spotted those bubble letters in the staging lot yet.

Aside from installing the hotel signage and wrapping up the murals, most of the exterior work on the Universal Kids Resort Hotel is just about finished. Now we’re just waiting for Universal to tell us when we can check in.
