The Wetlands Could Make Lakeshore Lodge a DVC Favorite
Last year, we learned that Disney Lakeshore Lodge would be getting a lazy river. That alone felt like a pretty big deal. Now we know it’s only one piece of a much larger pool complex.
Disney just revealed The Wetlands, a Pocahontas-inspired recreation area that will serve as the resort’s centerpiece. From Disney:
“The Wetlands will be thoughtfully designed with both fun and relaxation in mind. Younger guests will become part of nature’s story through whimsical wet and dry play areas inspired by the music and storytelling of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Pocahontas. Drawing from the lyrics ‘the heron and the otter are my friends’ from the beloved song ‘Colors of the Wind,’ these vibrant spaces will celebrate the playful connections found in nature.”
The Wetlands will include:
- Lakeside Lagoon: a zero-entry pool with a large spiral waterslide
- Perspective Pond: a leisure pool and whirlpool spa with views of Magic Kingdom fireworks
- Heron Shores: a nature-themed play area with climbing features
- Otter Springs: interactive water features and slides for younger children
- Daydream River: the resort’s lazy river headliner
Disney says the area will teach guests about local plants and wildlife. The Wetlands will also feature a plaque honoring River Country, the original Disney water park that once occupied the same footprint.
DVC resort popularity is usually driven by Monorail and Skyliner access. But with The Wetlands, I don’t think owners and guests will mind taking a bus or boat to Lakeshore Lodge and its lazy river.
