Puss in Boots-Themed Swing Ride Goes Vertical at Universal Kids Resort
A Puss in Boots-themed swing ride has gone vertical at Universal Kids Resort. I spied the center column of a Zamperla Flying Carousel while walking along Universal Parkway yesterday. The attraction has been on-site since February. As always, thanks to @Aahs_n_Oohs for his invaluable insights.
Update: The attraction now has an official name — Swings Over Del Mar.

We expect the following pieces to be added to the center hub soon. At that point, we’ll have a better understanding of the ride’s theming. Universal’s concept art doesn’t reveal much in that regard. In fact, the rendering’s color scheme is completely different from what’s on the ground.

Theming aside, we do know what guests will experience when riding the swings. Vancouver’s Playland Amusement Park has a Flying Carousel.

Zamperla’s website lists the flyer at just over 13 meters tall, with the ability to serve up to 720 riders per hour. Each ride lasts two minutes. Fast-moving lines and a short ride time sound perfect for preschoolers.
So what about the name? We haven’t yet been able to determine that. Dreamworks recently filed two trademarks: El Gato’s Meow and Barriles de Leche. Barriles de Leche could be the name of an indoor ride coming to the land, so maybe this is El Gato’s Meow? Or it could be a food stand. Or those names might not be intended for the Frisco park at all. We’ll break into regular programming as soon as we have answers.
For now, we do know that a Puss in Boots-themed Zamperla Flying Carousel has gone vertical at Universal Kids Resort.
