Spaceship Earth Closing for Refurbishment on August 25

Spaceship Earth will be closing for a routine refurbishment beginning August 25, 2025. Your last day to ride is August 24. The attraction is expected to reopen later this year. Disney didn’t shade any specifics, but the short downtime indicates we shouldn’t expect any major changes.

Six years ago, Disney announced a reimagining of the ride at the D23 Expo:

“New magic is coming to the iconic Spaceship Earth, which will remain a voyage through time as the journey transforms with new scenes reflecting the universal nature of the human experience. A new guide and all-new narration will focus on the storytelling that brings people together.”

Then the pandemic hit, and those plans were scrapped. While we love every Spaceship Earth journey we go on, it is getting a little long in the tooth. The attraction needs some love. Imagine its iconic scenes filled with Disney’s latest Audio-Animatronics.

Anyway, enough with what could’ve been. Let’s appreciate Spaceship Earth for what it is today.
