Second Alcohol Permit Filed for Universal Kids Resort Property

A second alcohol permit has been posted for Universal Kids Resort. The newly filed Mixed Beverage Permit lists 1 Universal Parkway, the address associated with the entire resort property, including the theme park.

As we previously reported, the initial permit was tied specifically to the on-site hotel. That made sense, as Universal has already confirmed the hotel will feature a full-service bar. This new filing covers the entire resort property.

A Mixed Beverage Permit in Texas allows the holder to sell, offer for sale, and possess mixed beverages (including distilled spirits) for consumption on the licensed premises. The applicant listed on both filings is TexBev Services, LLC, a company that handles alcohol permitting and logistics.

It’s important to note that this permit doesn’t necessarily mean that alcohol will be available throughout the theme park. It simply establishes the legal ability to serve adult beverages somewhere on property.

Alcohol in family-friendly theme parks

Alcohol service in a theme park, even one designed with children in mind, isn’t unusual. Legoland parks offer beer and wine in select restaurants. Magic Kingdom, historically a dry park, began serving alcohol at Be Our Guest in 2012 before expanding to additional table-service restaurants in later years.

Closer to home, Peppa Pig Theme Park Dallas-Fort Worth does not serve alcohol.

If Universal Kids Resort ultimately offers adult beverages inside the park, they would most likely be confined to specific restaurant locations, not something sold at carts or carried freely throughout the park.

At this stage, this remains a public filing and nothing more. Universal has not announced plans for alcohol service inside the Universal Kids Resort theme park itself, and the permit does not specify where beverages would be offered. We’ve asked Universal for clarification but haven’t received a response.
