Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure Switching to 2D at EPCOT

We thought this news might be coming. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in EPCOT is being converted to 2D projections. Disneyland Paris’s version of the attraction – Ratatouille: L’Aventure Totalement Toquée de Rémy – is getting the same update. Here’s the announcement from Disney:

“Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure will experience a short downtime Nov. 10-13, 2025, and will return with enhanced digital visuals and clearer imagery projected in 2D. Remy’s fans will spot new props and lighting enhancements when they are added to the queue and attraction over the next few months.”

3D attractions are great when they’re working properly, but they’re difficult to maintain. Keeping projectors calibrated is a challenge, especially with non-stop ride schedules. Projector misalignments cause blurry visuals and headaches for guests. And 3D screens can appear dimmer than standard displays, partly due to the glasses.

Another benefit shows up in the screen-less scenes, most notably the pantry. The fish, sausages, and other food props will appear much brighter once we ditch the glasses.

The change should also streamline operations for Disney while eliminating the ongoing expense of cleaning thousands of 3D glasses each day. Also, I’ll be able to take pictures without holding up the lens to my 3D glasses. Overall, a win, but maybe not for everyone.
